FUNNY THING, HUH..

We had an interesting activity in our English II class last Friday. It was a time - pressured group contest. Everybody participated since it was indeed needed. It was about a relay on writing a reference notes in APA style.
We were really pressured since we were just given limited time to get the information from a certain book or reference. We weren't familiar about the format, thus, we had a difficult time getting what is needed. We don't also strategized because everybody panics when the contest begins. In consequence, we didn't get good scores.
But the nicest part is that we had laughs, funny moments and bonding. Despite the not-so-good results, we still learn from the activity.

HEAVY WEEK, ISN'T IT?

A blog task this week was given last Wednesday and it was to write a reaction for any controversial issues on - going within the country or the world. Firstly, I'm really tired to do anything since quizzes were almost everyday that week and upcoming exams are really heavy loaded at my calendar. It's very tiring to think for it, huh?

But I tried my best to make my reaction blog as a past time so I won't feel any pressure doing it and I can make it easily. Thank goodness, it works. I have able to make a write - up.

(Please do read and comment my reaction blog and I'll assure to comment on yours, too.^^)

MAGUINDANAO MASSACRE... savage political crime

The world really spins. If, sometimes, it becomes improved, it also turns to be worse as equally how it amends. People are getting selfish, uncontrolled and greedy. "Thou shalt not KILL!", a 5th commandment from God but as we have seen these days, people are being killed just as simple as killing a chicken for a meal.

Last November 23, 2009, the whole world has been shaken for the terrible news from Maguindanao - a certain place in Mindanao, Philippines. Souls flew immediately right after they were fired by the unknown gunmen who really waited for them at the particular place , not really far to where they're suppose to be going. According to the news, Genalyn Tiamzon - Mangudadatu, who was one of the unlucky victims, was on her way to file a nomination of her husband's. With her are some relatives and journalists who will be witnessing for the filing of candidacy of Esmael Mangudadatu to fight for the governorship against Datu Unsay Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr. Ampatuan has been elected governor three times previously, always unopposed - maybe because of the fear that lies ahead whoever will contest against him. A clear example was that the Maguindanao Massacre.

Justice. What does that word useful to, anyway? A third - world nation that is starving from good leaders and financially unstable can really be moved by the power of guns and money. As what I've heard from a teacher, Ampatuan is even illiterate, a can't - read - can't - write type of person and yet he had stepped on that hierarchy of political position? Poor people of Maguindanao. I even weren't aware of any bad traits to them not until this heinous crime has been made. Dead bodies were even up to 57 in number found and they were viciously graved using a back hoe for the rapid burying. "They were piled on top of each other. It looked like as if they were buried hurriedly.", Regional police commander Chief Superintendent Josefino Cataluna said. It's good to know that when a witness appeared and pointed Ampatuan as the leader of the well - planned killings, he readily submitted himself to the authorities from General Santos City by a helicopter to Manila. At first, watching at the news, I was really curious why he came to the public immediately. As far as I know for a typical suspected people, they would use all their money to escape from the country, as much as to go to other planet, but he made the contrary. I'm just wondering what kind of tactic is this because it's even impossible to believe that he really wants to clean his name that he didn't do the foolish act or claiming that early that he led the bullet - ridden bodies found at that area. (to lessen the years he has to pay at the prison?) But even his most brutal death is not enough if he really is the responsible for the massacre. God knows best how he's going to pay for it. I hope this unforgettable nightmare be a lesson to everyone and learn to play righteously and fair in politics.

They said it's clan rivalries that tops all these. The Mangadadatus and Ampatuans are enemy and in Muslim culture, they do the "redo" or "ubusan ng lahi", the one left alive wins. That's common in Mindanao. I maybe won't be surprised for this news but I think it's too much and should really be paid an attention. Journalists are really disrespected with their unjust deaths and a threat for everyone journalists to be. Elections in the Philippines are usually marred by violence, where security forces are battling communist rebels, Islamic radicals and clan rivalries.

WHAT IS A THESIS STATEMENT?

Prelims on English was finally over. Every day seems fast. Sooner, we will be having midterms and eventually, finals. First day of meeting, Ma'am told us about the final exam for English II which will be a defense for our term paper. So, now, we're obliged to think for our topic and thesis statement for the preparation of our requirement to pass the subject.

A thesis statement should be a sentence, a complete thought, an idea. It should be clear and specific. It should lead to a paper of an appropriate length. A thesis statement should be supportable. Lastly, it should be interesting and worth writing.

Our requirement is a ten- page term paper connected to our field or course. At first, I really don't know anything about Metallurgical Engineering since this isn't my choice. But because I'm starting to enjoy everything around me, despite the ignorance that lives in me about the course, I stayed. So, it's hard for me thinking for a topic plus structuring a sentence for the thesis statement that it should be expandable. Each of us should be approved by our teacher to start our term paper the soonest. My topic is Metallurgical Engineering jobs abroad. My first thesis statement was rejected because it wasn't right for some reasons. So, the next day, I passed another one and thank God, it was accepted. But actually, my statement was corrected and improved. Well, in spite of it, I was happy because another tiring week had passed.

THE BRIDGEMASTER

We are sinners because we are imperfect. We get ambitious, proud and stubborn. But if we rectify ourselves and renew our faith , He, instead gives his endless love and mercy as He forgives us and receives us wholly again and again.

A father typically loves his son very much but when it's versus a group of people, he would just sacrifice and endure the heartache of how his son is feeling the pain. The blissfulness of the crowd which are lonely, angry, selfish, hurting and addicted against the benign kid who is destined to pay for their wickedness. Hopeless people. Pitiful child. He chose the multitude. How great is the Father's heart!

Unmeasurable love does He bears for us even more than His Son. When we weep, He finds medications to treat us, to stop us from crying. When He has observed that we trudge, He would help us for He promised that His yoke He will give is easy and His burden is light. He shall cast the loads from us especially those that are heavily laden. He shall be our instant redeemer.

His endeavor to be our Father is great and yet who are we to be sacrificed with? "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son", a verse from the Holy Bible, John 3:16 is vividly intending that even if how hard are the circumstances we are presently taking, He will save us from the cliff of death and gives us another day to fix any damage. Especially, when we lament and our heart is in Him, His will assuredly will grant us what we needed best. We may not understand everything directly, but as time goes by, we will appreciate and learn to accept what His gifts really mean. He is always good to us even 'though sometimes we turn from Him and establish our own ways.

Staggering in road, meandering then becomes a jerk afterward, so we beg to Him, we pray hard to Him and promised not to do it again and so He forgives us. But some instances are really playful and unpredictable. They give us temptations where we are the preys so we become the victims of the bait, for sure. But He still give us another chance. His works are greatly astounding but what's more amazing is His big heart that beats for us. Thus, let Him be our reason to live from now on, in return.

NOT A READER?, DEFINITELY NOT A WRITER!

"If you read and read and read and read and read, then you are a writer", our teacher once said.

Reading is vital. Ignorance should not really exist anymore and exactly has no address in this savage world. If you don't practice reading, you might become the poorest thing in town, worse than a rat. But if you get yourself involve totally in learning things, wandering and inquisitive about the surroundings, be ready for astonishment in revealing the universe, itself. Isn't that more interesting?

To be a writer, you should have a lot of experiences, reflections and readings to be resourceful and to have an effective persuading ability in your write- ups. As every day goes by, you get amazed from your daily knowings and so let thy readers also say "WOW!" and be move by your article. It's nice to know that someone has gained something from you. It's another way of helping a fellow. If you made anyone change for better after reading your piece, it is then a great pleasure, an achievement, an abstract for trophy. You're now an inspiration.

I am not a good writer and honestly, I often read. But with English II subject which is requiring us to write and write and write, I guess, I had good results and I think I'm loving it!
